The Canadian Femicide Observatory for Justice and Accountability (CFOJA) is a grassroots feminist-led initiative that seeks social change to empower girls and women and promote gender equality. Preventing violence against women and girls needs to occur if social change is to be achieved.
To prevent femicide in the Canadian context, the CFOJA is collaborating with the multiple individuals, groups, and/or organizations who have struggled for many years – and decades – to prevent violence against women and girls and who continue to do so.
While it is a national initiative, the CFOJA recognizes the need to mobilize at the local and regional level of the country to recognize the distinctiveness of the various groups and communities that exist.
The CFOJA is particularly concerned with mobilizing and working with local and regional groups across Canada representing multiple geographic and social identities in its efforts to track femicide and monitor social and state responses to these killings when they occur.
To date, the CFOJA is proud to acknowledge the following partners
